. . . . . Where quality far surpasses quantity . . . . .

The drive was long, smooth and winding, strewn with little river bed pebbles that crackled and popped beneath the heavy tires of the luxurious Turnbow box stall trailer. After a few minutes of picturesque, grassy green scenery stretching out on either sides of the vehicle, the road converted to a wide, and remarkably even cobblestone path, with thick pines towering in a line, at the edges of the street, down to the main farm grounds, through a slight descending slope framed by lush, multicolor flower beds. At the end of the quaint path, there it proudly stood, in the center of the vast field, surrounded in the distant horizon by snow-capped, blue mountains, a misty, serene lake dotted with breathtaking swans, and glorious maple forests encircling the entire area. The famous equine ranch, renown across the globe for its quality breeding.
A soft, trickling sound of a nearby gurgling brook could be perceived by new coming visitors as they passed the intricate, wrought-iron, black front gate, which could read "Double Dance" in the center, with the logo of two horse silhouettes performing a levade, back to back. As the trailer pulled up to the main building, it swerved cautiously around the centerpiece to the circular parking lot, adorned with a splendid decoration feature: a fantastic fountain of a picturesque Iberian-type stallion, perfect in all its fantastic musculature, prancing in a collected piaffe, its tail fanning out beautifully in the air and swinging down to his hocks. The thick, curly mane wove down the line of its arched neck through an intricately detailed running braid, and the eyes of the life-sized statue almost shimmered, they seemed so realistic.
All around, the leaves of the seemingly endless woods had turned to a stunning shade of bright ocher, cherry red, or golden, buckwheat yellow, in this late October weather. With fiery pigments tinting the backdrop, one didn't usually immediately notice the cozy, century-old, Victorian country farmhouse until the chilly air began to creep upon them. Embellishing the lovely slanted shingle rooftop was a towering little chimney, where silver, puffy streams of smoke could be discerned, floating gently upwards. It gave the property a characteristically warm and inviting feel, especially on such a cool, autumn day.
Across the sprawling 2150-acreage farm grounds, there were not only countless trails to explore on horseback, but also a plethora of state-of-the-art facilities capable of tending to and pleasing any taste. Immense, lush pastures of faded green, with elegant and freshly painted wooden fences adorned a large part of the open plains, while not far off from the farmhouse, large barns could be noticed. Behind these, guided by a fork of several little dirt paths, stood a number of round pens and outdoor arenas - all varying in sizes -, mostly engulfed partly by the shadows cast from the tall willow trees surrounding the little clearing. A little further down, the vast Olympic-sized indoor arena resided, closest to the training barn.
This haven of a ranch is known as Double Dance Stables, home to true champions.

WELCOME

We are proud to welcome you to the famous Double Dance ranch, home to some of the most exquisitely bred and finely trained horses known to the equine world. We hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any questions regarding our facilities, stallions, broodmares, foals, and anything in between, do not hesitate to contact us and share yours thoughts! It will always be our pleasure to service the public.

ABOUT

Double Dance was officially inaugurated on September the 4th, 2008, and was in steady construction and development during the preceding years. Since this fateful day, our dedicated staff has made it their goal to tend to, breed, train, show, and supply the finest "earthbased" (realistic) horses available on the Horse Art RPG. Which also means that we do not breed unrealistic horses, and do not allow our horses to be bred by other players' fantasy horses to any degree. All of our stallions are also always registered into the HARPG, by Rafica of Keypsake Arabians, and the stables themselves are officially HARPG-approved since October 2008.
Our specialty is of the Iberian and Baroque type (Andalusian, Menorquin, Friesian, Knabstrupper, Lusitano, Lipizzan, etc.), as well as the Hanoverian and Thoroughbred. However, we stray a bit from these guidelines, for our side-project breeds (Shires, Canadians, and Mustangs.) In fact, we house various breeds, ranging from highly diverse locations across the globe, which is why we also have a few "random" horses, such as our Zebras, Dutch Warmblood, etc., but these are simply guilty pleasure whims, if you will...
Even so, we only own and breed the "crème de la crème", as it is our motto. Our staff is of a great number, yet every individual has its own specific task, and they are all remarkably well trained and qualified to do so. We boast an on-hand dietitian, two on-hand veterinary doctors, an on-site farrier, and numerous professional stablehands, handlers, grooms, trainers (including a Cadre Noir rider of Saumur), instructors, work-out riders, mechanics, technicians, etc. The animals you will find here are purebred (unless stated otherwise; we tend to purposefully crossbreed a few horses as side-projects, once in a while, but it is quite rare), and have outstanding pedigrees that can not be compared anywhere else.
Our aim is to improve the blood of the breeds we focus on, and to boast the best of our champion studs and broods on the public market, for reasonable fees.

Also, as for the layout of DDS, we'd like to inform watchers that all texts, rule layouts, drawings, descriptions and info on this ranch are entirely unique to us and its creator (~Hazel-rah), and if you happen to stumble upon a ranch description or art that is freakishly similar or even near identical to this one (you'd be surprised at the frequency, sometimes... I know I am), well, rest assured that we were the first ones who came up with these texts, and others are simply shameless copy-cats with no originality. :D

Oh, and regarding the bullet system, here's the color guidelines:
:bulletred: = Mare
:bulletpink: = Filly
:bulletblue: = Stallion/Colt
:bulletpurple: = Unknown (not born/conceived yet)
:bulletgreen: = For sale/auction/adoption
:bulletorange: = Retired or Deceased

RULES

1. In order to breed to one of my horses, you must be a *HorseArt-RPG registered member. It may sound silly, but I've had some studding requests from non-players. Next, you have to DevNote ~Hazel-rah with at least the following information about the mare you wish to use in the breeding, after reading the HAG rules. The more info and details in the stats, the more likely I am to accept the broodmare. I also would prefer it if the mare wasn't obviously created in the spur of the moment, just to perfectly match my stallion, even though I can't control issues like that...

Breed:
Age: (no younger than 5 years of age)

2. Once breeding is accepted by both parties, the foal cannot be born until the art work is completed. A drawing must be submitted of the two horses together (this is called the "mating pic") and this must be promptly sent to me for approval, after it is uploaded to DA.

3. The foal is not born before the requesting player draws an image of the foal (as a foal or an adult), adds the parents name below the image, and makes a journal post (or edits the original post), mentioning the breeding and the foaling. After this is done, the owner of the new foal must contact Double Dance as soon as possible, and notify us of the newborn, for us to register him or her in our breeding logs, and to make sure the foal is suitable (we have to confirm that it's not a fire-breathing, horned demon, y'know? ;)) Refusing to do so will potentially make us blacklist your ranch name. We care about our babies too! If the foal is too surreal or does not follow basic rules of genetics/colors/logic/etc., we reserve the right to demand you to redesign the foal, and if you do not comply, we can and will ask that the foal be deleted permanently (basically, "aborted".)

4. As this is a realistic stable, we will not tolerate breedings to unreal/fantasy breeds or colors. NEW: We also used to strictly deny breedings from players who owned ranches containing fantasy horses, even if the mare in question is realistc. However, after countless requests to reconsider this, we have decided to change this rule. Now, certain trustworthy players owning fantasy horses may breed to our horses, as long as the mare or stud is 100% realistic, and the breeder must accept to not let anyone, in any future generation, breed that bloodline to fantasy-typed horses. And we reserve the right to take down the name(s) of our horses from that bloodline, if it ever gets mixed in with fantasy blood. However, those who request unrealistic broods to be covered by one of our stallions will be denied without exception. Furthermore, the realistic factor also goes for statistics. We tend to frown upon horses who are terribly exaggerated. For example, a horse who won the Triple Crown 10 times, or who won Olympic gold in all disciplines every year since the horse is 4 y.o. We like fancy, exceptional horses just as much as the next, since this is after all a fictional game and we all want the very best, but please bear in mind we may decline you for a breeding to our studs if your mare is too far-fetched or stupidly amazing. =P

5. NOT all stallions at Double Dance are available for public servings. Those who are admissible to cover specific mares will be advertised as such. If a stallion is not up for stud, you may not request to breed to him. Also, we ask that you bear in mind that since we strive to keep our bloodlines pure and as refined as possible, not every broodmare will be accepted. Please do no take this personally.

6. When choosing the color of the foal, please try to be original (not make a carbon copy of my stallion), but also try to keep it within the realms of reality and the genetics of each horse. Don't try to get a palomino out of two blacks.

7. The originality rule also goes for everything related to this stable! I hate seeing unoriginal copy-pastes of whole layouts or texts, especially of mine. Instead of copying and then tweaking just a few words, try to be as unique as you can with your ranch! I've seen countless HARPG ranches with the exact same rules or statistics as DDS. Please, be inventive!! Copying is a huge lack of respect and honor, in my book.

8. All of our horses bear the prefix "DD" in front of their registered name. It is strictly forbidden to use this brand, under any circumstance, on any horse, even if it was sired by one of our stallions or comes directly from our bloodlines.

9. Some horses have restrictions (genetic, or other.) Read through them carefully before DevNoting us about a breeding, and please respect them. Also, don't be surprised if we send you a little survey or a few questions to answer, after you request a breeding from us. This is protocol procedure for everyone.

10. Have fun, treat others how you would like to be treated, and enjoy yourself!

UPDATES

Just a few bits of important news, for my watchers.

11/06/09: We've decided that we're going to auction off a part of our beloved horses. We're considering specializing the stables more, so that we focus mainly on Baroque & Iberian typed horses (Andalusians, Menorquins, Friesians, Knabstruppers, Lusitanos, etc.) as well as, of course, our Hanoverians and Thoroughbreds. We will have little side-projects, for breeds such as Mustangs, Shires, Canadians and Gypsy Vanner Horses, but we'll only own and breed -very- few of these. As for the rest of the horses, we're considering (meaning, not set in stone!) selling out. We'll probably keep a few, such as our prized DWB, the Zebras, maybe the Donkey and perhaps (though not likely) the AQHs/Paints. The Arab lot will possibly also be sold, in due time, but again, only time will tell.

11/07/09: I've decided that I'm going to sell some of my horses, because I have too many, because a lot of them don't motivate me like they used to, because I need to move out the old to bring in the new, and because I'm not doing them any justice by leaving them rot in my barns, doing nothing (I'm sure a serious buyer could give them a happier home!)
I may sell more, in the future (i.e. the lot of Arabs), but I'm still extremely attached to them, so we'll wait and see about those.
Now, feel free to look in our "for sale" section to know who will be up for auction!

11/12/09: I've decided to chuck the Arabs away, too, finally... It makes me a little sad, because I really enjoyed designing and breeding them, but I know they could go to better, more active homes. :3 The only Arab I'm keeping to myself is DD Al-Zahra, for personal reasons. And, I'll let out a few broodleases to the public, but she'll be retired very soon, so contact me ASAP if you're interested about her. She'll also only be let out on leases once she foals her current baby (a Zeke kid, who will also be sold once he/she is weaned.) For your information, the "Mash'al" x "One Way Syringe" foal and the "Tango" x "Cora" foal (once they're both born & weaned) will also be auctioned, so keep an eye out if interested.

2. Entrants must be *HorseArt-RPG registered, or in the process of being registered (application already sent.)
3. You can apply for multiple horses, but it's unlikely that you'll get more than one.
4. Please give DDS/~Hazel-rah original character design credit in the description and drawing.
5. You cannot alter the design, color, or stats of the horse. But you can draw them older than now (so, foals can be drawn as weanlings, yearlings, adults, etc...)
6. You cannot breed these to unrealistic type horses, ever, if you win them.
7. Don't rush your entry. I judge based on the effort and time spent, as well as the activity level of the ranch, not the "realism" or "beauty" in the artwork (beauty is in the eye of the beholder!)
8. I reserve the right to close this auction with no winners, if there aren't enough applicants.
9. Deadline is currently December 1st 2009 (extension can be allotted on demand)
10. Have fun! Any questions, don't hesitate to PM ~Hazel-rah! :)

Gorgeous stable.

I see you have a zebra coming up :)

Im refining my stable to more real colours just with a slight twist, however my Zebras will be pure.
I will have a Zebra stallion with strange markings, using a RL ref photo for these markings, there were about x4 I had to choose from. Let me know if you'd like to see, I can e-mail them, they are lovely photos.

I will also have standing a Palomino/white Zebra stallion, I also have RL ref photos of these as well to share.

I cant wait to breed my zebbie babies
